Projects & Enterprises


The following is a list of CDEP's activities with their planned outputs.

Mowing

  • Develop fee-for-service business in general lawn mowing and site clearing.

Ancillary

  • Cleaning services for CDEP facilities including Wearwulf factory.
  • Painting services to CDEP related facilities and some community facilities.
  • Grounds maintenance service to all CDEP assets including Wearwulf factory site.

Mirriwinni

  • Minor repairs and maintenance to academy.
  • Grounds maintenace.
  • Develop vegetable garden to enable self-sufficiency in basic vegetables for the Aboriginal Academy. 

KAP

  • Assist with the maintaining of a safe public area in the CBD.
  • Ensure that people at risk are protected.
  • Liaise with local council.
  • Undertake training in time management and roles and responsibilities within the organisation.
  • Security training.

Dalagur Pre-school

  • Provide supervisory and activity support for  childcare centre.

Host Placements

  • The following groups of participants are employed in areas outside of the CDEP.
    Some are traineeships where the host employer has undertaken to provide training while others are straight 2-day sessions.
  • We feel what these employees are receiving will eventually enable them to gain full time employment in mainstream employment through training experience, training and their presence in the market.

Administration

  • Management training (Frontline Mgt Level four) for all managers and eligible supervisors.
  • Electronic Banking.
  • Develop admin personnel in all CDEP operations.
  • Develop and implement OH&S policies and procedures.
  • Investigate funding opportunities.
  • Cleaning and maintenance Prince Street Depot.
  • Operate receiving bay (stores) for receipt of all CDEP goods.
  • Three  Traineeships (Office Skills 1 & 2).
  • Investigate business opportunities.
  • Redefine and develop corporate plan and management plan.

Training Section

  • Training in OH&S, First Aid, Workplace, Literacy and Numeracy support.
  • Training in writing submissions for funding .
  • Supervision of Employment strategy for traineeships .
  • Coordination of School Programs.
  • Maintaining Accreditation as a Registered Provider.
  • Tendering for funds for the training centre.
  • Training and employing a team of Koori Workplace Educators.

Greenhills Community

  • Slashing and maintaining communal grounds.
  • General cleaning and small repairs to community gardens and housing stock.

Night Hawkes

  • Provide Security for Prince Street depot.
  • Possible contract with local security company.
  • Undertake appropriate training for licenses for vehicles and security.
  • Undertake training in time management and Roles and Responsibilities with the organisation.

Stuarts Point Farm

  • Maintain flower production.
  • Market cut Flowers to Europe, Japan, USA, as well a local markets.
  • Clear and establish new beds for flower reproduction.
  • Regenerate Aboriginal sites.
  • Maintain planted area and irrigation systems.
  • Propagate new varieties of Kangaroo Paw.
  • Installation of Irrigation to new Production beds.
  • Continue to develop nursery which already supplies most cuttings.

Wearwulf

  • Sports safety wear.
  • Production of sport clothes-shorts, tracksuits also T-shirts for local sporting groups.
  • Production of school uniforms.
  • Production of uniforms for GWNAC and Wearwulf.
  • Produce special one-off orders.
  • Initial training for new Wearwulf participants.
  • Production of T-shirts for Wearwulf.
  • Production of clothing for promotional events.

Projects Development

  • Develop Indigenous Employment Centre Program within CDEP.
  • Develop and implement various projects for CDEP.
  • Implement Networking The Nation Project which will provide 5 public access internet points across the Macleay and produce a local content website.
  • Training and development for 7 NTN dedicated staff in internet and website related areas.
  • Further development and upgrading of employee manual and associated procedures.
  • Managing training and implementation (frontline Mgt) for management and supervisory staff AQF Levels 4-5.
  • Develop Building Company and Contracts.
  • Develop Aquaculture Project.

Schools Assistance Program

  • Continue this program providing AEA skills  to CDEP participants working in active support roles with local schools. This program has produced job outcomes in previous years and this is expected to continue due the strong interest from local schools.

New Burnt Bridge

  • Slashing and maintaining communal grounds.
  • Set up vegetable patch and fence (1 acre min).
  • Develop skills in bush furniture manufacture.

South West Rocks

  • General lawn and mower maintenance for Figtree Estate residents .
  • Marketing and gardening vegetables/flowers less than one acre will be in production at first to demonstrate the viability of this activity for this group.

Corrangula Farm

  • Development of Farm underway with new Farm Management Plan nearly complete.

Djigay/Billabong Gooragan Black China

  •  Wigay Aboriginal Culture Park.
  •  Tours and cultural exchange programs.
  •  Landscaping and maintenance for ground garden at centre.
  •  Gift shop (Billabong) developed into viable stand alone business with training.
  •  Art gallery (Billabong) unused, developed into viable gallery for local & especially Koori art.
  •  Developing and producing arts 7 crafts for local sale.
  •  Catering to park visitors.
  •  Tours to provide unique cultural experience for visitors, boomerang throwing, spear making, didgeridoo painting etc.
  •  Arts and crafts (Gooragan Black China) developing and producing artworks for local and international markets.
  •  Producing artworks for printing on China in conjunction with Studio Cafe.
